Dawn PatrolFrom the album Little Movies
Dawn Patrol ©2000 Michael Jerling
Coffee light
Forbidden cigarette
The eastern sky
Turns to pink and red
The sprinklers whirl
On the second green
The lizards run
Up and down the screens
When the snowbirds come
In their plumage bright
They’re so full of hope
They’re so full of fight
When the snowbirds fly
You can never know
Just who will return
From this dawn patrol
From outside the gates
The houses look the same
The hair is mostly white
There seems a golden haze
On this modest paradise
So orderly and clean
The battles won and lost
Are not ones you can see
When the snowbirds come
In their plumage bright
They’re so full of hope
They’re so full of life
When the snowbirds fly
You can never know
Just who will return
From this dawn patrol
Coffee light
Forbidden cigarette
The eastern sky
Turns to pink and red
When the snowbirds come
In their plumage bright
They’re so full of hope
They’re so full of fight
When the snowbird flies
You must always know
We are comrades all
On this dawn patrol
We are comrades all
On this dawn patrol
